Thomas Cook China: A Responsible Trip For All

Nowadays, more and more travel brands put efforts on the sustainability in order to minimize the environmental footprint of travel and protect local environments and cultural heritage.



In September 2019, Prince Harry launched an eco-friendly travel initiative “Travalyst”, with a group of the world leading travel companies including Ctrip, Booking.com, TripAdvisor and Visa, with the vision of making the tourism industry more sustainable and environmental.


As the representative enterprise of the founding members of this campaign, Ctrip put huge efforts and emphasis on SCR and sustainability with varied actions, including working with WTTC and WWF to combat illegal wildlife trade, building a global SOS relief system on their travel platform as well as promoting eco-travel concept and products. Moreover, Ctrip has also participated in a number of international philanthropic activities in the Middle East and Africa.


As the leading travel agency in China, Ctrip also actively affects its partners. According to reports, 75% of the cooperative enterprises on Ctrip platform signed to implement Ctrip's 4R initiative, which is Reducing, Reusing, Recycling and Regeneration. By doing this, more and more small and medium sized travel enterprises also get involved.


Thomas Cook China keeps align with the mother company of UK, advocating a responsible trip for all. When you browse their official websites, you could see their initiatives on the oblivious position.

In 2018, Thomas Cook announced its #noplaceforplastic campaign globally, in hopes of eliminating single-use plastic wherever possible throughout their supply chain. They promise to work together with destination governments, tour operators, customers and employees to enhance recycling infrastructure and encourage new ways of working.


Besides, they also made actions according to the animal welfare policy. In 2017, Thomas Cook announced their animal welfare policy and all the animal attractions of their products must be 100% compliant with ABTA animal welfare standards. With this policy, Thomas Cook audited 49 animal attractions and removed 29 which didn’t meet the minimum ABTA standards.


Besides the above two global campaigns, Thomas Cook China also advocates to respect the local culture and environment, leaving nothing but memories and footprints to the destination.
