Which type of market is Brazil?
Although Brazil is a large country with an incalculable number of wonders, it is not necessarily a synonym for high foreign inflows. Indeed, "only" 6 million foreign tourists visit Brazil each year, which ranks Brazil around the 30th largest tourist destination in the world. On the other hand, with a population of about 200 million, domestic tourism is very active with 59 million each year. This makes the tourism sector one of the most important in the country.
This is the advantage of local travel agencies like Brazil Ecotour. Where Thomas Cook can rely on a market of 6 million tourists, Brazilian agencies can rely on a market of 59 million.
Let's focus first on Thomas Cook. On average, there are less than ten trips to Brazil on the site. The duration is between one and two weeks. So, we see that the choice is rather limited and not very diversified. It is necessarily very targeted for Europeans, so very little for "adventurers". As explained in the article "Is travel agency a good option for tourism in Brazil?" the stays may not have the charm and exoticism expected. Perhaps it would be good for Thomas Cook to diversify. After that, is the lack of choice a cause of the lack of tourists or vice versa?

Compared to local travel agencies, the offers are much more diversified, there are as many, or almost as many stays in beautiful hotels as road trips in the various remote regions of Brazil. And this is probably the advantage of local travel agencies over international travel agencies. Perhaps this is the explanation for the important local tourism.

To conclude; we can highlight the dangerous side highlighted by the European media that can discourage people from coming. But local tourism is perhaps the best answer to this fear.
